1 CE Hour – Intolerance to light, or photophobia, is a common symptom in individuals that have experienced traumatic brain injury TBI. In this talk, I will discuss recent research done at OSU that investigated the potential role of light-sensitive retinal ganglion cells in contributing to the photophobia experienced by these patients. Ganglion cell photoreceptors are a key component of the neural circuitry that mediates pupillary light reflex, so emphasis will be placed on the altered pupil function that was apparent in TBI patients with photophobia.
